- If you are looking for a unique, fancy cut diamond that has been around for more than a century, one of the more interesting diamond cuts that are available is called the cushion cut diamond. The cushion cut diamond is sometimes referred to as a pillow cut diamond or even generically termed “old mine cut” by diamond companies before the turn of the last century.

Typically, the cushion cut diamond is in the shape of a square or squarish-rectangular. The cut usually resembles the shape of a pillow, hence the name.
